I'm really enjoying the New DC Universe. So I tried drawing Jim Lee's new Batman and realized I need a very clear modelsheet and should have started drawing an inch higher on the paper so his right foot would be there. Oh well!

I picked up Darkwing Duck at Costco last week and I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I'm really enjoying it.

P.S. I like it cause its a comedic version of Batman and the Shadow as a dark.

So I did these character design this past winter for a writer who has a great pitch. I don't want to say anything on the story, because I thought it was great! AND I'm still hoping he and I can do it sometime down the road (as soon as a publisher comes on board) The Characters were created by Darren Vincenzo and Chris Gugliotti. The only thing I will say (and I hope Darren doesn't mind) is that Dee is 13 yr old boy and he built all of his animal robot friends.

My buddy Brock has a Lawn Care business and wondered if I could do a logo for him. All he told me was he wanted his mower involved. I was going for something simple and basic. I was kind of thinking the AOL IM guy or a pedestrian sign. It was an interesting challenge, I don't think I pulled it off that well.

As soon as I finish "The Hen" Comic (coming along nicely) I want to animate a little short I'm calling "THE BUNNY ASSASSIN" I've done 2 drawings of the character yrs ago. But I'm just recently getting excited about the story and entertainment potential. So here he is. He's lanky with a lil bow and a spear like arrow so that I can push his poses to absolute ridiculous extremes. I also love the idea that his hat is the back end of a bunny.

My buddy, Josh, at work is a true character. I'd love to animate him doing something, because he has very clear ideas and rules for his actions. Plus being so lanky. So much comic book art has these steroid abused muscle bound people with their costumes painted on and I gotta say it works a lot of the time. Some artists use it to create this great alpha male fantasy land that ramps up all the visuals.I could never pull it off though, so I drew this.

I've been on a big dragon kick, it must be because of "How to Train Your Dragon" coming out in a couple weeks. But I really liked the idea of the idiot knight fuckin with a sleeping dragon. I like to harass my poor wife about the fact that we both come from families with larger people in them and when we combine DNA our cute offspring will be BIG!!! So I've created the idea of ANGUS THE BEARDED BABY!!! He'll eat live cattle by the herd! We'll need a forklift instead of a stroller! And we'll have to airmail him in the bottom of a jumbojet to visit his grandparents. I think he'll fit in to Montana just great some day.

Pencils and Inks: Eric Canete

I've been working on my color skills and love staring at the fantastic work of Eric Canete, so I combined the 2 and here's what I got. It was great to color something more complex and detailed, but I think I messed up on making spidey pop put a little more. Plus I don't think my color choices help to move the eye around the piece as well as I'd like. Any thoughts on how to improve this would be greatly appreciated.

One of my Best Friends since I was little is, Rob Leicht, and he and his lovely wife, Alanna, are haveing a baby at the end of the month and they have a superhero nursery. Well as a fake uncle to this child I had to do something. They told me they went with a lot of red in the room so there's a lot of superman, which Rob is a big fan of. So I made batman take up half the image. (Come on it's me) I hope you like.

Summit Gaming Part 1 (Sven & Ole)

My first full time professional gig was at Summing Gaming. They make Video Keno and Poker machines for a few different states.

SIDE NOTE:(Keno is a game where you have 80 spots, the player selects between 2-10 spots and the computer randomly selects 20 of them. If the computer picks your spots you win money.)

I helped on a couple of different games and things first learning the ropes and then I got to make my first game. The Art Director gave me the character and a rough layout and then I came up with this:

And then our parent company's legal department found a bar top game in Norway with a sheep named Sven that has sex with other sheep... anyway. Then we named it Ole and I learned that in the gambling biz people like brighter colors. So then I changed it to this:

I'll post up the animations soon. They're the fun part.
